Louis follows in his father's footsteps, bringing his own unique touch and passion to the wines of Domaine de l'Aurage . Domaine de l'Aurage was previously bottled under the name Chateau Cadet
The property is 20 hectares in size, with 18ha of vines in one block. The vine density is 6500 vines per hectare, with an average age of 20 years, planted 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This estate is within the highest area of St Genès de Castillon,
on a clay-limestone slab. Merlot represents the majority of the planted area, it is supplemented by 15% Cabernet Franc.
Hand-harvested grapes undergo a precise sorting process before fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The winery emphasizes gentle extraction, avoiding excessive manipulation. Then L’Aurage spends 18-20 months in oak, which is 100% new, from the Radoux cooperage. This approach, coupled with Mitjavile's expertise, yields wines that showcase the unique terroir, characterized by richness, depth, and a harmonious balance of fruit, tannins, and minerality.
